The steps below cover one of five main staff workflows for using Echo360 via Canvas, ie adding an existing Echo video to Canvas via Canvas’ text editor

...

  • You can link in Canvas to a video that’s either in your personal Echo360 library or in an Echo360 collection

  • You can’t upload a video directly into an Echo360 collection.
If you want to link from Canvas to a video in an Echo360 collection, you must first upload the video to your personal Echo360 library, add this video to the collection, then link to the video from the collection.
For this reason, you can’t upload a video and link to it at the same time from anywhere else in Echo360 apart from your Echo360 personal library.

WORKFLOW

[COVER LINKING FROM BOTH THE USER’S PERSONAL ECHO360 LIBRARY AND FROM AN ECHO360 COLLECTION]

1. Navigate to a NIDA Canvas course that you want to add the video to

...

5. In the toolbar across the top of the editor, click on the blue Echo360 icon

...

6. (If you don't see the Echo360 icon, click on the plug icon, click on the plug icon and select View All.

...

Then click on the 'Echo360' link.)

...

7.

...

You should then be shown a pop-up and be in the Library tab in this pop-up. If you’re not in the Library tab, click to select this tab.

In the Library tab, you may see the video you want to link to appear straight away. If not, you can search for it

Searching only works if you start typing from the beginning of the title. Echo won't find your video if you start with the middle or end of the title.

...

...

8. You can scroll down in the list of any videos you see to find the one you want

If you only have one video, or if your search only matches one video, you will only see one listed

...

...

9. Click to select the video you want to link to

...

At this point you get to choose between embedding the video into the Canvas page or just creating a simple link to it on the page. Both options are described below

OPTION 1. ADDING A VIDEO BY EMBEDDING THE VIDEO IN THE CANVAS PAGE

...

10. Make sure the 'Link' switch is turned off

If the Link switch is turned off (ie to the left), then Canvas will embed the video in the page rather than linking to it

...

...

11. Click on the 'Insert' button

...

...

12. Click on the 'Save' button at the bottom right

...

...

13. You'll then be taken back to the main editor screen

...

...

14. Test out the newly linked video to make sure it works

...

This is the same process as shown above for embedding a video, but we select a different option towards the end

...

10. Make sure the 'Link' switch is turned on

...

...

11. Click on the 'Insert' button

...

...

12. Your link will then be added. You can now change the title of the link if desired

...

...

13. To change the link title, click on the link and wait for the box to pop up

...

...

14. Then select 'Link Options' in the box

...

...

15. In the pop-out that then appears at the right, click in to the 'Text' box and type the new title

...

...

16. Click on 'Done' at the bottom of the pop-out

...

...
