This workflow covers the steps required for users to add videos in their personal Echo360 library into video collections they can create and share in Echo360.

This workflow is available to both staff and students.

Notes specific to this workflow

  • Note that when you are viewing the ‘My Echo360 Library’ screen in a Canvas course, and When you are searching for videos to add to a collection on the ‘My Echo360 Library’ screen, the videos are shown on the Library tab and not the Collections tab:
    The Library tab shows Collections and Media, while the Collections tab just shows Collectionscollections can be seen in both the Library and Collections tabs but individual videos can only be seen in the Library tab.

  • You can add videos to a collection either by selecting videos already in your Echo library, or by uploading videos directly into an Echo collection. (If using the latter option, the videos are also added to your library.)
    This workflow will show you how to add videos to your collection using both these methods [-> NEED TO ADD IN STEPS TO UPLOAD DIRECTLY INTO A COLLECTION]

2. Navigate to a screen in this course that offers the text editor. In this example, a Page is used.

3. On the Page, click on the 'Edit' button to display the text editor

4. Place the cursor at the point in the editor where you want the video to be added

5. In the editor's toolbar, click on the blue Echo360 icon

If you don't see this icon, click on down arrow to the right of the plug icon, then select the 'View All' option. In the popup that then appears, click on the 'Echo360' video link

6. In the pop-up that then appears, click on the 'Upload Existing Media' tab

A. Add an existing video into a collection

This workflow assumes that the collection you will add the video to has already been created. If you need steps to create a collection, see D.1. Create an Echo collection.

You can add an existing video either by opening the collection and selecting the +Add Media button, or by searching for a video then selecting Add To Collection. This workflow shows the steps for the first of these options because it allows you to add more than one video at a time.

4. Select the Collections tab if you are not already on this tab in the ‘My Echo360 Library’ screen

5. Use the view options button to select the List View to give yourself more screen room if needed

6. If needed, you can search your existing collections by name. Type in part of the title of the collection you would like to find. Any matching collections are then shown

7. Select the collection you would like to add the video/s to, and in the collection’s screen make sure you are in the Media section

8. Click on the + Add Media button and check that you are in the ‘Import From Your library’ tab in the Add Media pop-up

9. If needed, enter part of the title of the video/s you would like to add to the collection. Matching videos are then shown, and the number of matches is listed at the right

10. If needed, use the check boxes to the left of the videos shown to select the ones you want. Else if you want to select just one video, click on it

11. Click on the Done button when selection is finished. The added videos are then shown in the collection. You can then sort all the videos in the collection by Name, Date Created or Order Added

B. Upload a video into a collection

This workflow assumes that the collection you will add the video to has already been created. If you need steps to create a collection, see D.1. Create an Echo collection.

14. You should now be shown the 'Library' tab in the pop-up, and your new upload should show at the top of the list of videos in this tab

If your new video doesn't show you can search for it using the Search box. Searching only works if you start typing from the beginning of the title. Echo won't find your video if you start with the middle or end of the title.

If you can see the video listed under the 'Library' tab in the pop-up, then it's been successfully saved in your personal Echo library...

15. You can now cancel out of the editing screens as they are no longer required:
- Click the x at the top right of the pop-up to close it, and click the OK button to confirm you would like to lose the changes made, then
- Click the ‘Cancel’ button at the bottom right of the text editor, and click the OK button again to confirm you would like to lose the changes made.

You can see and manage the videos in your personal Echo360 library by viewing the ‘Library' tab in the 'My Echo360 Library’ screen in your Canvas course:

14. Click on the Upload button. Echo then confirms your file or files have been successfully uploaded

15. Your new upload will show in your collection with a Processing status

16. You can click on the 'Sort by' dropdown to sort your videos by Date Created, Name or Order Added. The arrow to the right of the dropdown will then change the sort order for the option selected.

17. Your newly-uploaded video is also added to your personal library. To check this, you can click on the Library tab and either search for the video by title, or click on ‘Date’ once or twice until the most recent file shows at the top of the list
