PSONO Guidelines

NIDA use PSONO as a password manager tool. This section will explain how to use Psono and do most basic things like creating, searching and accessing secrets/Passwords and folders.

 Instructions

  1. Creating Folders - This section will explain how to create folders. We assume that you are already logged in to Psono and want to create now a folder. There are four methods to initiate the process of creating a folder.

    1. Top right button
      At the top right you will see a button with three gears. If you click it a dropdown menu will open. Click on New Folder

b. Right click into an empty area

An alternative would be to click into the datastore into an empty area. A similar dropdown menu opens as before. Click on New Folder

c. Right click on a folder

An alternative would be to do a right click on an existing folder. A similar dropdown menu opens as before. Click on New Folder. The new folder will be created as a child of the chosen folder.

d. Click on the three gears of an existing folder

And the last alternative would be to click on the three gears button of an existing folder. A similar dropdown menu opens as before. Click on New Folder. The new folder will be created as a child of the chosen folder.

Choose a name

As the final step choose a name and click OK.

  1. Creating Secret/Passwords

Top right button

At the top right you will see a button with three gears. If you click it a dropdown menu will open. Click on New Entry

Select type

Psono supports multiple types, choose the one that fits your needs.

Enter rest of information

You can now add the rest of the infos, either manually or by using some of the provided helper functions that e.g. autogenerate a password for you.

  1. Searching passwords -

    This section will explain how to search for a particular secrets. A secret can be a website password, or a note or bookmark. We assume that you are already logged in to Psono and want to search now a secret. There are multiple methods to search now an entry.

In-app search

You can use Psono's powerful in-app search at the top of the datastore.

Panel Search

If you are using Psono's browser extension you can use the panel search next to the browsers' address bar.

  1. Sharing Passwords/ Secrets- This section will explain how to share a particular entry (secret or folder) with other users. There are multiple ways to share an entry (secret or folder), depending if the other user has an account or not.
    With another Psono user

    This method describes how to share entries with other users that have a Psono account. Initiate the sharing

    If the other user has a Psono account too, then you can share an entry either "right click"-ing the entry or by clicking on the three gears button of the entry. Click on Share

  2. Group Creation

a. In the left menu, click on "Groups":

b. Click on the "+" icon to add a group:

c. Enter the name of the group:

d. Click "Create"

  1. Adding Users in Group - You need "Group Admin" permissions to add and remove Users

a. In the left menu, click on "Groups":

b. Edit the group: Click on the pencil icon to edit the group

c. Click "On plus symbol" to search a user
If you don't see the user in the list of users, you need to find them on the server. Click the "+" symbol and search for the user.

d. Select the user and permissions
Select the user to invite the user to the group. Click on the checkboxes to configure the user's permissions for the group.

  • Group Admin: Allows a user to add and remove users and their permissions from a group

  • Share Admin: Allows a user to share an entry or folder with this group

d. Click "Save"

 

  1. Removing Users in Group

a. In the left menu, click on "Groups":

b. Edit the group:
Click on the pencil icon to edit the group

c. Uncheck the Member checkbox next to the user

d. Click "Save"

 

 

 

Highlight important information in a panel like this one. To edit this panel's color or style, select one of the options in the menu.
