This workflow covers the steps required for a user to perform basic video editing using Echo’s built-in editing screen.

This workflow is available to both staff and students.

WORKFLOW

 

1. Go to a Canvas course page

2. Open the ‘My Echo360 Library’ screen off the blue menu to the left

3. in the ‘My Echo360 Library’ screen, select the Library tab if it’s not already selected

4. Search for the video you would like to edit

5. If you would like to create a copy of the video you are about to edit as a precaution, select More Actions then Make A Copy

6. Select the three dots to the bottom right of the video and select ‘Edit Media’

7. Read the warning message and if you agree, click the Ok button

8. NOW SELECT FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING WORKFLOW PATHS:

A. Remove unneeded footage from the start of a video

B. Remove unneeded footage from the end of a video

A. Remove unneeded footage from the start of a video

9. Move to the location in the video where you want the video to start. You can do this by either

1. using the Play button to play and stop the video at the right spot

2. clicking on the progress bar to jump to the right spot

3. dragging the centre of the cut marker to the right spot

10. Once you are at right location, click the left bracket on the cut marker. The unneeded front portion of the video should then disappear

11. You can then use the Play button to check that the video begins at the right time. If you’re unhappy with the selection, you can use the Undo button to reverse your last action

12. Once the edits are finished, the video is potentially ready to be saved. This excerpt is from the video editor documentation on the Echo Support site:

If still happy with the changes, click on the Save button

13. Echo will then immediately start processing the changes

14. The video will show with a ‘Processing’ status in your Echo library

B. Remove unneeded footage from the end of a video

9. Move to the location in the video where you want the video to end. You can do this by either

1. using the Play button to play and stop the video at the right spot

2. clicking on the progress bar to jump to the right spot

3. dragging the centre of the cut marker to the right spot

10. Once you are at right location, click the right bracket on the cut marker. The unneeded end portion of the video should then disappear

11. You can then drag the cut marker or use the progress marker to move the play location to towards the end of the video. Then you can use the Play button to check that the video ends at the right time.

12. If you’re unhappy with the selection, you can use the Undo button to reverse your last action

13. Once the edits are finished, the video is potentially ready to be saved. This excerpt is from the video editor documentation on the Echo Support site:
