JEDOX USER GUIDE – Actuals vs Forecast/Budget

This section outlines how to view and monitor actual financial performance within Jedox, comparing it to your budget and forecast data. It is designed for department users and finance team members who need insight into real-time or periodic performance.


🧭 Purpose of Tracking Actuals

  • To monitor how actual performance compares against planned budgets and forecasts.

  • To help identify variances early for course correction.

  • To support reporting, analysis, and performance reviews at departmental and executive levels.


  • Accessing Jedox

    1. Open the NIDA Bookmarks.

  • Click on Jedox to launch the main menu.


  • Navigating to the Dashboard

    1. From the Jedox main menu, click ‘Dashboards’.

  • Select ‘Departmental Overall Dashboards’.

  • Applying Filters

    1. The dashboard will appear on your screen.

    2. Use the filters to select:

      1. Your business area

      2. The relevant month and year

      3. A comparative view (Budget or Forecast)

      4. You will see a table comparing actuals vs budget/forecast, along with visual graphs and charts.

  • Viewing Detailed Income Statement

    1. Click the link titled ‘Link to Detailed Departmental Income Statement’ to view the full P&L for your area.

  • On the left-hand side, hover over the account groupings and click to expand into individual accounts.

  • Reviewing Revenue/Expenditure Totals

    1. To explore MTD/YTD revenue or expenditure, hover over the total amount.

    2. Click the ‘Drillthrough’ option when it appears.

  • Exporting and Analyzing the Data

    1. The drillthrough listing will appear.

    2. Click ‘Export’ to download the listing as an Excel file.

  • In Excel:

    1. Select Column A and drag across to Column Z.

    2. Go to the Insert tab → click ‘Pivot Table’.

    3. In the Pivot Table dialogue box, click OK.

  • Building the Pivot Table

    1. From the Pivot Table Field List, select the following:

      1. Month

      2. Full Account – NIDA

      3. Account Description

      4. Originating Master Name (Vendor Name)

      5. The pivot table will be generated.

  • Optional: Display in Tabular Format

    1. To make the pivot table easier to read:

      1. Click the ‘Design’ tab

      2. Select ‘Report Layout’‘Show in Tabular Form’

Your pivot table will now appear in tabular layout.
