Adding an External App to Microsoft Authenticator

Adding an External App to Microsoft Authenticator

Description

The Microsoft Authenticator app also allows for you to add external applications that use TOTP authentication.

Setting up this method is quick and easy and allows for access to non-Microsoft Applications such as Ish Oncourse.

Installation and Setup

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone. If you have not yet installed the application, you can view detailed instructions for this process here - Microsoft Authenticator App Setup.

  2. Click on the + icon in the top right corner of the app. Select Other (Google, Facebook, etc.).

  3. Scan the QR code from the application you are adding and you will see your account name with the name of the system above it.

  4. Enter the one-time password listed into the application to finalise the MFA. Each time you login to this system, you will likely need to open the Microsoft Authenticator app and enter this code.
